Transformers: War for Cybertron

As you can best imagine this is a game directly influenced by the Transformers by Hasbro. This is set on their home planet of Cyberton and is to be a prequel to the original series (generation 1 to the geeks) and shows the ascend to Autobot (good guys) leadership of Optimus Prime and the creation of the alliances of the Decepticons (Bad guys) you can play as either and both have a series of campaigns to play along to. You can play either at any time, the Decepticon campaign is the start of the whole story and if you want to play the game in the linear form then you should start with that story first.

Anyway, this is a game that should be played if you were ever a fan of the famous robots in disguise as it has taken a break from the norm and is actually very good for a Transformers game, using the Unreal engine means it has scalable graphics which are very atmospheric and playable. Even though it is set on a metal planet it shows quite a bit of variety and should be played with an open mind. Did I mention it also has multiplayer? Oh yes you can join up wqith your friends online and kick the hell out of other players in a variety of Multiplayer formats.

So overall a quite good game that is recommended.

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm

The next instalment of World of Warcraft is going to be Cataclysm. A lot of new changes to the game including rising the level cap up to 85 and 2 new races, the Worgen (for the alliance) and those little green fellas the Goblins (for the Horde).

Game Features

(info from wow.com)

MMO-Champion has just updated with a host of new Cataclysm information datamined from the alpha client. Needless to say there are numerous spoilers for the Cataclysm expansion contained in these files; readers avoiding spoiler material -- this falls firmly under that category. More details and links under the break.

The information pulled from the alpha client includes maps of several of the new zones, including a peek at the newly-terraformed Azshara, Blasted Lands, Gilneas and Hyjal. Also included are various NPC models including the Deathwing model featured the other day; and a host of various critters and items that will be found in Cataclysm. Boubouille has noted that the post containing all of this information is still currently being updated, however there are plenty of screenshots to look at already.

The most interesting information has nothing to do with screenshots or images: the new talent calculators are available as well. While these do not appear to reflect all of the changes coming in Cataclysm (hunters still appear to have mana-based talents and skills), there are new talents in the trees that were not mentioned in the Cataclysm class previews from last month. All in all, a wealth of new information to be pored over and analyzed -- but keep in mind, these are from the alpha build of the expansion, and will likely receive several revisions between now and release.

Quake Live and Broswer gaming

Mike B reporting from Beta land

I have the pleasure of Beta testing Quake live the free to play online quake3 clone. it run in a browser with a reletavly small plugin to download. the action is retty quick and according to the forums there are some niggles to iron out with the balancing of weapons and maps but on an overall note so far its looking good fun. But essentially its still just Quake 3  which means fast paced FPS action with timing your armour and weapons etc so you can get one over your enemy. It is hard to get into from a begginers point of view. But if you an old pro its just like jumping on an old trampoline, its not hard and occasonally you get a good bounce out of it.

As far as I am concerned this is a good sign for this new generation of browser based gaming with the soon to be long overwaited Battlefield heroes going down the same route and currently in beta form, its all looking good.

Where does the revenue for such high class gaming come from in these games are the developers just doing it for fun?
Developers make games just for fun?????? Dont be silly, Well its all done through cosmetic upgrades to your online avatars and in game advertising. From what i have seen so far there is minimal disruption to your gaming experience, and at the end of the day you are getting commertial quality games for nothing so who's gonna complain about the odd game advert on the games website.

So for me so far this is a big Thumbs up and keep up all the good work out there you sweet little developers you.

World of Warcraft .. Ulduar

For countless millennia, Ulduar has remained undisturbed by mortals, far away from their concerns and their struggles. But since its recent discovery, many have wondered what the structure's original purpose may have been. Some thought it a city, built to herald the glory of its makers; some thought it a vault containing innumerable treasures, perhaps even relics of the mighty Titans themselves. They were wrong. Beyond its gates lies no city, no treasure vault, no final answer to the Titan's mysteries. All that awaits those who dare set foot in Ulduar is a horror even the Titans could not, would not destroy, an evil they merely... contained.

Beneath ancient Ulduar, the Old God of death lies, whispering.... Tread carefully, or his prison will become your tomb.

As the next step in tiered raid progression in Wrath of the Lich King, Ulduar is set to blow players away with gorgeous setpieces, sprawling battlefields, and innovative boss encounters. Ulduar's design aims to provide a fun, unique, and innovative raid experience, but it also includes additional challenges - and rewards - for seasoned raiders. In this sneak-peek at World of Warcraft's newest raid dungeon, we'll take a look at some of the new content that makes Ulduar rise above the crop of amazing dungeons already available in World of Warcraft.
